MapCenter is a technology that allows you to integrate digital maps and municipality plans into any IT system. Users receive a detailed map of the whole Europe at their disposal and may select from it any map data they are interested in.Apart from making maps available, MapCenter permits to perform a plenty of operations on them: inserting objects on a map, searching for objects on a map, searching for information about objects, routing to and from set points, searching for the closest objects. Thanks to the above functions, MapCenter constitutes a fully functional GIS server that offers a plenty of possibilities. The implementation of these functions depends exclusively on your requirements and imagination.
MapCenter is internally dividied into modules - set of related functions. Now there are 6 basic modules:
Localising module is a basic system module and a basic unit used by the Users, which can be extended with several modules offering additional possibilities. It consists of four components – submodules: basic (it includes basic logging into system functions, users’ and sessions’ management functions and it renders system information accessible. It is a key component for the running of the entire system); map (it includes the geocoding function; it enables the display of the map image defined with particular parameters on the user’s screen, the management of enlargements and browsing through the maps);searching (it allows you to search objects visible on the map, e.g. cities, streets, addresses, etc.); localizing (it enables inserting your own points on the map, iconing, tagging and linking one another. These objects create a new layer of information)
It enables functions that establish the route between points on the map and generate route descriptions, as well as additional functions that allow you to manage different types of drivers and vehicles
The basic optimization module is the solution to the so-called “salesperson problem”. The module enables the optimization of route points on the basis of three route estimation algorithms: the fastest, the shortest and the cheapest one. Findings may be depicted in the graphic or textual form, i.e. a report with the option of saving route points during the session along with the estimated route and its parameters.
Optimization and scheduling module is an advanced extension of basic optimization module, supplementing it with several new, important variables and parameters. It enables therefore several more complicated and complex operations connected with fleet management and transport orders planning. The module is especially important for all companies connected with transport orders planning.
Impediments module enables, during route calculating, considering information on road impediments. Impediments module is particular important for transport industry. Along with route module it enables calculating route for vans and so called “ heavy rolling stock”, including i.a. recording objects impeding transport (bridges, viaducts along with their width, height, possible weight), restrictions for truck traffic (no entry in particular time, etc.) possible weight on road sections, current traffic impediments.
MapCenter Objects module (MapBase) enables its cooperation with databases in order to display on maps spatial data permanently stored in these databases. It is an alternative for localizing module, which also enables displaying data placed at the request of the server session, but as data automatically removed by session ending.
